Exim Directory - Importer Exporter Code Holders

Any Indian citizen or entity such as registered partnership firm, LLP, Pvt. Ltd., Company or Limited company can apply to Director General of Foreign Trade online and receive IE Code. Supporting Documents are required to be submitted in hard copy at any of zonal offices of DGFT.

Lost IEC Number : Where an IEC Number is misplaced or lost, the regional DGFT may consider requests for grant of a duplicate copy of IEC number, if accompanied by an affidavit. You need to provide PAN number for easy retrieval of IEC Number. There can be several IEC numbers in the same name especially in case of individual, proprietorship concerns and partnership firms.

IEC CODE

The Importer -Exporter Code (IEC) is a key business identification number which is mandatory for Exports or Imports. No person shall make any import or export except under an IEC Number granted by the DGFT. In case of import or export of services or technology, the IEC shall be required only when the service or technology provider is taking benefits under the Foreign Trade Policy or is dealing with specified services or technologies.

To apply for The Importer -Exporter Code (IEC) one must register as importer/exporter on the DGFT Website https://www.dgft.gov.in/CP/

P R E - R E Q U I S I T E S of registering on DGFT Website

  1. Internet Connection
  2. Valid Email and Mobile Phone Number

Upon Successful validation of the OTP, user shall receive a notification containing the temporary password which they need to change upon first login.

Following are the prerequisite for Applying of New IEC
  1. Valid Login Credentials to DGFT Portal (After Registering on DGFT Portal).
  2. PAN Number
  3. Proof of establishment/incorporation/registration
  4. Proof of Address
  5. Proof of Firm’s Bank Account
  6. User should have an active DSC or Aadhaar of the firm’s member for submission.
